Introduction, Harewood Estate

Looking for a venue in Harewood Village. Historic venue in Harewood Village - find historical wedding venues and industrial venues here in the UK. The farming operation is leased to the Harewood Farming Company Ltd which manages 700 acres of arable land under a shared farming agreement. It also manages the parks.

Details, Harewood Estate

The Estate came out of direct farming in 1984 and many of the traditional farm buildings that were part of the original John Carr model farm fell into disuse. Alternative uses for these buildings had been sought for some time and an ambitious scheme was put forward to the planning department of Leeds City Council in 1990, for the possible redevelopment and use of these buildings as modern detached office space. This was very revolutionary at the time and no one had any idea whether people would come to work in offices that were once part of a working farm. With increasing confidence the project was launched in 1994, and the first office was taken by a firm of accountants, Lishman Sidwell Campbell and Price. The project has since moved from strength to strength. It is now the Estate's policy to look at use and re-use of all our property stock, with development and change of use featuring wherever possible to meet the demands of the local economic climate. Property development is not just for commercial use and many of our residential properties need to be brought up to scratch, refurbished, and an active policy of developing our assets is at the forefront of our Estate Management policy in that direction.
