AB is the first pop- and rocktemple to receive recognition as a “Grote Vlaamse Cultuurinstelling”. This means AB is now one of the key cultural organisations in Flanders, a position it shares with deSingel, the Flemish Opera and the MuHKA (Museum for Contemporary Art Antwerp). AB received this recognition because – says the Flemish Minister of youth, sports, culture and Brussels – it carries out a local and international pilot function (AB stimulates and promotes ‘more Flanders in the world en more of the world in Flanders’) and because our programme reaches the high standards of international quality. A great honour based on the performances of the past 29 years and at the same time an additional stimulus to do better the following years.

The AB: a historic building with two ultramodern halls, a big entrance hall and a café-restaurant. A location visited by contemporary musical gods, such as Jacques Brel, Lou Reed, Herbie Hancock, U2, etc. A beautiful décor for all your events with all the necessary facilities for concerts and company parties. Thanks to our unique location, the building's typical architectural style and the range of facilities we can offer, the AB is a guarantee for an unprecedented event. The Ancienne Belgique has a superb sound and lighting installation, an excellent catering and a team of experienced technicians. Parking facilities are plentiful in the neighbourhood of the AB, at the centre of the capital of Europe. The Ancienne Belgique in house recording studio has, since its opening in 1997, recorded more than 1.000 concerts. It is fully integrated into the venue, and linked to both the 2000 visitors capacity main hall, and the 250 capacity club. It is designed with one purpose only: concert recording and mixing. Whether this is for surround sound DVD, live CDs, tv shows, live radio broadcast, direct stream audio, etc. In short, if an artist wishes to record his or her show, all we have to do is plug one multicable into the wall and our 48-track digital recording studio is ready for recording.
