Details, Abbaye de Belval

The history of cheese "Abbey Belval" is intimately linked to the history of the Abbey of Our Lady of Belval, one born in 1893 and the other in a wooded valley and the greenery of Ternois. So at that time the cheese is founded to ensure the "livelihood" to the whole community: farmers bring the milk of their herd, and some years later employees collect milk from nearby farms .Indeed, the sisters of Belval refine the cheese to take their income to live independently. But if the methods of refining, transmitted over the years, have kept the traditional aspect of the past, management of the business, she repeats the processes of any business today. Belval cheeses are listed by the National Academy of Culinary Arts in the inventory of the heritage of the region, which is now a hot commodity of the largest dairies in Europe, such as that of Harrod's in great Britain.
