Situated high above Durban North on Umhlanga Rocks Drive, Endless Horizons has a contemporary Zen feel, with peaked roof structures, wide rock-clad columns, timber detail and double-volume spaces. Water plays an integral role in the design. Long twin ponds with stainless steel water features flank the impressive entrance and immediately visible through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the public areas of the hotel, the sparkling infinity pool appears to flow directly into the Indian Ocean on the horizon. The décor is understated, fresh and appealing - with antique Chinese, Thai and Indonesian artworks and furnishings interspersed with modern-day custom-made pieces. This creates a light and airy feel in the public spaces and is a refreshingly new approach. Fabrics reflect a citrus-coloured palette contrasted with ocean-toned blues, greens and turquoise, linked with neutral shades against dark timber contemporary furniture. Artworks range from intricately-crafted ancient wooden screens to giant block-mounted photographs of organic elements.
