Lavasa has been structured to encourage a dynamic city community, with its Town Halls and cobbled lakeside promenades for shopping, entertainment and eating out. Lavasa is planned for a permanent population of 3 lakh residents and a tourist inflow envisaged at 20 lakh per annum. A 3 hours drive from Mumbai and an hour’s drive from Pune, the city is 1/5 the size of Greater Mumbai. Based on the principles of New Urbanism it is meticulously planned to strike a balance between urban living and preservation of the environment. The Master Plan of Lavasa, developed by HOK, USA, has won 4 awards.
