Many couples today are choosing to have a non-religious wedding ceremony, or be married by a friend or family member. Some couples write there own vows to make it really personal instead of the efficient saying some words about marriage in general. In between the vows there can be some music played or one of them sings a song. Than the wedding rings can be exchanged and sometime gifts. The closing can be another song or poem and than of course the efficient has to declare them husband and wife officially. Weddings get more and more personal instead of traditional.

One of the old traditions is that your wedding dress should be white. These days it doesn't have to be that way anymore. Brides pick their own colour, they even get married in black! A wedding is so personal and there is nothing wrong with skipping traditions. We all know something old, new borrowed and blue. The wedding dress should be new but that too is not of these days anymore. Something old is mostly some piece of jewellery from a family member, something borrowed can be a family member or friends veil, something blue can be your garter a blue toenail or lingerie. Another tradition is the ring, it should be gold an circular shaped. These days couples choose what they like, silver, black, with or without diamonds. And of course not seeing each other before the wedding because of most couples live together already before they get married they also spent the evening before together. What ever you do or don't do, what is important that this is your wedding day and if you stick to traditions that's all up to you.

Finding the right venue for your wedding party can be different from the location of your ceremony. Your ceremony does not have to be in a church or a city hall. Have you thought about a beach ceremony setting or a outdoor ceremony? Make it really extravagant an fly to another country, how about getting married on the beach of Curacao or the Bahamas'? But you can also have an intimate ceremony in your own back yard and dress up your garden with beautiful romantic ribbons and flowers.
