Tip 5: The Amsterdam Dungeon: actors breathe life into some of the city’s most gruesome moments. Special effects make it all the more real. There's also a ride and a labyrinth through lost Amsterdam. Stories about plague, witches, the Spanish Inquisition and even the merciless Dutch East India Company. These are some of the horrors awaiting you.
 
Tip 6: Heineken experience: The Heineken Experience takes up four floors and has 18 attractions with several interactive exhibits. Here you'll experience Heineken's rich history and the tradition and craft of brewing. Attractions include a mini brewery, a tasting bar, as well as the 'Stable Walk', where visitors can access the stables to view Heineken's iconic shire horses which still deliver beer throughout the city.
 
Tip 7: Coster Diamonds: learn about the process of cutting and polishing a diamond. Coster Diamonds has one of the biggest collections in Amsterdam of large stones weighing over 1.00 carat. Items are for sale at reasonable factory prices; tax-free shopping is available for non-E.U. residents.
 
Tip 8: The Pijp: a multicultural community and the city's largest market. The Albert Cuypmarkt a daily market were they sell fresh seafood, meat and cheese to flowers, clothes and jewellery, with charming ethnic restaurants, cosy brown cafés and trendy bars and terraces.
 
Tip 9: Visit the Royal Palace on Dam Square: the world's most complete and well-preserved collections of Empire-style furniture and decorative arts, comprising nearly 2,000 pieces including hand-painted ceilings, grand marble floors, epic sculptures and paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries.
